7. Chicanes:
- Series of alternating curb extensions or islands that create a serpentine path.
- Force drivers to slow down to navigate the turns.
- Often used in residential areas.

8. Speed Cushions:
- Similar to speed humps but with gaps for emergency vehicles to pass through without slowing down.
- Effective in reducing speed for cars while allowing larger vehicles to maintain speed.

These different speed control measures are utilized in various settings based on the desired speed reduction, traffic volume, and specific safety concerns of the area.

দেশে গাড়ির দাম বেড়েছে, বিক্রি কমেছে ৩০ শতাংশ

দেশে প্রাইভেট কার বিক্রিতে বলা চলে ধ্বস নেমেছে। ২০২২ সালের তুলনায় ২০২৩ সালে বিভিন্ন মডেলের প্রাইভেট কার বিক্রি কমেছে প্রায় ৩৫ শতাংশ। সিডান ও স্পোর্টস ইউটিলিটি ভেহিক্যাল (এসইউভি) দুই ধরনের গাড়ি বিক্রিই কমেছে। বাংলাদেশ রোড ট্রান্সপোর্ট অথরিটি বা বিআরটিএ সূত্র এবং গাড়ি ব্যবসায়ীদের সূত্রে এ কথা জানা গেছে।

করোনা পরবর্তী সময়ে দেশের বাজারে গাড়ির দাম বেড়ে যাওয়ায় গাড়ির বাজারে এমন ধ্বস বলে জানিয়েছেন বিক্রেতারা। তারা অবশ্য এজন্য ডলারের দাম বেড়ে যাওয়া অর্থাৎ আমদানি ব্যয় বৃদ্ধিকে দায়ী করেছেন।

বিক্রেতারা বলছেন, প্রতিটি গাড়ির দাম বেড়েছে আগের তুলনায় ৩০ থেকে ৩৫ শতাংশ। গাড়ি কেনার পর বিআরটিএ অবশ্যই নিবন্ধন করতে হয়। সারা দেশে বিআরটিএ নিবন্ধন নেওয়া গাড়ির হিসাবে দেখা গেছে, ২০২২ সালের তুলনায় ২০২৩ সালে বিভিন্ন মডেলের প্রাইভেট কার বিক্রি কমেছে ৮ হাজার ৩৭৭টি। অর্থাৎ ২০২৩ সালে মোট প্রাইভেট বিক্রি হয়েছে ১৮ হাজার ৫৪০টি। এর মধ্যে সিডান মডেলের ১০ হাজার ৭৮৪টি আর এসইউভি মডেলের ৭ হাজার ৭৫৬টি।

এর আগের বছর অর্থাৎ ২০২২ সালে মোট গাড়ি বিক্রি হয়েছিল ২৬ হাজার ৯৩৫টি। এর মধ্যে সিডান ১৬ হাজার ৬৯৫টি এবং এসইউভি ১০ হাজার ২৪০টি। দুই ধরণের গাড়ি বিক্রিতেই এবার ধ্বস নেমেছে। জানতে চাইলে রিকন্ডিশন্ড গাড়ি আমদানিকারক ও পরিবেশক সমিতির (বারভিডা) নেতা হাবিব উল্লাহ বলেন, ‘রিকন্ডিশন্ড গাড়ি ব্যবসায়ীদের এই খাতে ২০ হাজার কোটি টাকার বেশি বিনিয়োগ রয়েছে। গত এক থেকে দেড় বছর ধরে ডলারের বিনিময় হারের কারণে ঠিকমতো গাড়ি আমদানি করা যায়নি। প্রতিনিয়ত ডলারের সঙ্গে টাকার যে অবমূল্যায়ন হচ্ছে সেটি একটা আতঙ্কের ব্যাপার।’ তিনি বলেন, ‘গত এক বছরে গাড়ির আমদানি ব্যয় বেড়ে যাওয়ার কারণে দাম ৩০ শতাংশ বেড়েছে।’ এ কারণেই গাড়ি ভেদে দাম ২ থেকে ৩ লাখ এমনিতেই বেড়ে গেছে। তাছাড়া শতভাগ পরিশোধে এলসি খোলার কারণে গাড়ির বাজারে অস্থিরতা চলছে। তবে বিক্রেতারা বলছেন, এ বছর বাজার আবার চাঙা হতে পারে।

বিআরটিএর হিসাব অনুযায়ী দেশে শুধু যে প্রাইভেট কার বিক্রি কমেছে তা নয়। মোটর, সাইকেল, বাস, ট্রাকের বিক্রিও কমেছে। শুধু মাত্র অটোরিকশরা বিক্রি বেড়েছে। দেশে ২০২২ সালে ৫ লাখ ৭৮ হাজার ১৫১টি গাড়ি নিবন্ধিত হয়েছিল। গত বছর সংখ্যাটি কমে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৩ লাখ ৬০ হাজার ৮৬১টিতে। অর্থাৎ এক বছরে দেশে ২ লাখ ১৭ হাজার ২৯০টি যানবাহনের নিবন্ধন কমেছে।
