Out with the pony motor (petrol motor you start to use to start the main engine) and in with an electric starter (this is a custom fit electric conversion) for this 1951 D8 Cat dozer for a client, which has been in the family since new, last started 5 years ago, purrs like a kitten 🤣

Articulated Pistons out of a 3116 caterpillar engine, the piston skirt is not fixed to the piston crown to allow the piston skirt to always run parallel in the bore (to reduce wear) and then a steel piston crown can be used to handle higher horsepower out of a smaller capacity engine 🤟
