They hate the discipline it requires.

Let’s talk.

Every racer has moments like this.

The difference is what you do next.

I didn’t start this journey for easy days.
I started it to grow, to learn, and to rise after the fall.

The comeback always starts here. Wherever you are. Right now I have needles in my hips to wake up the muscles in the area.

Today I started official rehab with Sharbel at Physiohealth in Williamstown physiohealth

Happy Australia Day.

I love this photo. My first time representing my country through oceania_junior_cup where we beat the team from NZ.

Since then I’ve represented my country in two different sports and I’ll continue to represent the best country in the world.

Oceania Junior Cup.

Racing competitor tip whilst reflecting on my racing.

That person you dread racing. The toughest, roughest, strongest racer on the track. That is the person you should ride next to the most.

Why? Because it is uncomfortable.

Competition is uncomfortable. If you only train where you feel safe, you will never perform at your best. Get comfortable being uncomfortable.

Avoiding the people you fear protects your ego, not your growth.

Seek out the hard track days, and competition will feel familiar instead of overwhelming.

Also never ever forget those that are there with you. Here I am with GRM Performance best bloke Dali who was my first sponsor and will always be with me on every bike I have.

Edit: by great advice from John Fannin . You actually have to be careful with idiot riders as some people want to take you out. They’re not caring for improvement. They just have to win at all costs. With motorbike training I guess you have to steer clear from total drop kicks . In racing you just need to know how to manage them. This is where my fighting martial arts mindset comes in handy.

Today I have officially started my physical therapy for my comeback.

I struggle to walk…but I hiked
I’m super motivated…but worried to get it wrong
I’m lucky I have a super supportive family….we all walked the You Yangs together.

Here’s a clip Maryanne took of dad and I.

I’ll come see everyone at Phillip island world super bikes to support my mates.

At the moment, I can’t train at all… but that doesn’t mean I’m done.

When I’m finally cleared to get back on the bike, I know nothing will feel perfect straight away. And that’s ok.

Almost everyone struggles when they start something new—or come back after a setback. What matters isn’t how you start… it’s how strong you are when you finish.

As long as there’s progress, even tiny gains, it’s enough. With time, those small steps turn into something powerful.

Your technique doesn’t have to be perfect to work—it just has to be good enough in that moment. Same with recovery. I don’t need to be 100% to move forward… just better than yesterday.

So if the comeback begins shaky, that’s fine. I’ve been here before. When I’m able to put in the work again, that weak beginning could become one of my biggest strengths.

🙏 Huge thank you to the paramedics and marshals at The Bend racetrack for looking after me when it mattered most. Without them, this road back wouldn’t even be possible.

Right now, I can’t train… but when my body allows it, I’ll be ready.

You can raise up from anything.
You can completely recreate yourself.
Nothing is permanent.
You are not stuck.
You have choices.
You can think new thoughts.
You can learn something new.
You can create new habits.

All that matter is that you decide today and never look back.

“You’re back to square one, Nikolas.”

That’s what Dad told me. And he’s right.

Starting again after a fractured hip hurts—physically, mentally, all of it. It’s uncomfortable. Feels like you’re walking in the dark with no guarantee you’ll make it out.

But just like racing, just like Jiu Jitsu… just like life…

You’ve got to give yourself time to fail,
time to adapt,
and only then do you succeed.

Everyone wants the podium. No one wants the process.

I’m learning to love the early stages again—the rehab, the setbacks, the slow gains. Because if you avoid this part, you’ll want growth without ever earning it.

Fail forward. Take the small steps. Stack them daily. Eventually, you’ll arrive somewhere completely new.

It’s hard for everyone. I’m owning it and chasing my best self.
