Next stop, give the rear end some love!

Things are happening! We're going to try our hand at a track day or two next year. To that end, last weekend we bought a more suitable diff. With a 3.08 ratio, to replace the 2.76 'highway diff' which served us so well on the rallies, she should accelerate much better.

Also ordered a bunch of parts to upgrade the front brakes. VT twin piston callipers, rotors and the bits required to support the change she'll pull up a lot better too!

Home!

Thanks again to those who in any way helped us get the car ready, especially Jake’s Performance, ACT Off-road and Joeys Bodyworks.

As always, massive thanks and love to our partners, Erinn and Ali, for helping out in a myriad of ways, putting up with us being preoccupied, and for keeping the home fires burning!

Here’s a few photos from the rally, some I took, some shamelessly stolen from the official MysteryBox page.

We allowed a day for contingencies but it was an amazingly smooth trip up. Might do a reef trip tomorrow or something.

There is free camping all over Bundaberg, we’re going to camp next to the river, across from the RSL, where we’re doing as the Romans do.

Cruising around town was ok, with the occasional rattle, but with a full load, going up big hills or booting it to overtake, the mighty Commo was pinging quite badly on E10.

Rather than risk engine damage we’ve switched to premium, which has made a big difference.

Fortunately, fuel consumption has been significantly better than we anticipated. At around 10L/100Km, it won’t smash our expected fuel budget.
