Next week the The Neurological Council of WA will be delivering a free community workshop called From Carer to Career in Karratha and Port Hedland, thanks to generous support from Horizon Power.
The program recognises the significant skills developed through unpaid caregiving and supports participants to explore employment, education, volunteering and community leadership opportunities. It will also help us connect with an untapped workforce to potentially train and deliver our NeuroCare, NeuroKids, NeuFriends and other neurological and brain health and wellbeing programs across the Pilbara.
The workshop is suitable for:
Family carers
Former carers
Parents of children with disability or chronic health conditions
Kinship carers
Aboriginal carers
Carers of older people
Carers of people living with disability, neurological conditions or chronic illness
Participants will:
Identify transferable skills
Build confidence
Explore local jobs and training pathways
Connect with other carers
Develop a practical action plan
Explore opportunities in community care and respite services
