The day of the Carrera's arrival is finally here. The Porsche 356 Carrera also known as the Speedster Carrera was the ultimate in the 356 range. Only a handful are known to still exist and as a hand built tribute, this is one of a kind.
“The ultimate Porsche road cars took their very un-Germanic name from the Mexican Carrera Panamericana road races… The Carrera entered the Porsche line up concurrent with the introduction of the 356A in September 1955 at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Karl Ludvigsen wrote, “The Carrera was the inevitable Porsche, the car the Zuffenhausen enthusiasts had to build sooner or later.” With larger tyres and a dual-outlet exhaust that peeked out below the rear apron, the car projected a businesslike attitude, and with gold Carrera script gracing the sides and rear, this was obviously no ordinary Porsche.” (Porsche 356 & RS Spyders, Maltby 2000)
