businesses that make our neighbourhoods what they are. Along the way, we surprised 100 local businesses with a handwritten Local Love Letter, a small thank you to remind the people behind the counter that their hard work, passion and impact don’t go unnoticed.

Behind every small business is one person wearing a hundred hats.💙 That’s why supporting small businesses matters.

Together with Mainstreet Australia, American Express Australia, is proud to launch the Shop Small Grants program.

From today up until 6 September 2026, eligible small businesses across the country can apply for a Shop Small grant of $20,000 each. American Express has contributed an initial $1 million to fund 50 grants through the Program.

American Express will then contribute an additional $1 for every eligible transaction made using an eligible American Express Card at participating Shop Small businesses in Australia between 1-7 August 2026, up to a further $1 million.
