DAY 20….VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘The Day that wouldn’t end’

We woke up today with an absolute mission ahead of us and we’re not sure how it was going to pan out.

We had our ute and trailer loaded.. and I mean loaded!! While in VIC we picked up a few bits and pieces to deliver back to a few friends in Sydney. For any one Interested the list includes:
- A new set of Herrod mustang rims.
- A new Mustang steering wheel.
- 1 set of 22inch tyres
- 8 riveted 12 slot rims
- 5 Olympic reflex tyres
- A 4V Cleveland in pieces
- 1 box of falcon hubcaps
- A pair of leaf springs
- A Fairlane boot lid
- 5 Fairlane hub caps
And…….a complete drum set 🥁🥁🥁

We checked out of our hotel at 7am, drove 2 and a half hrs to Foster, carried out a complete new sunroof installation into a XY falcon, drove back to Melbourne, caught up with a friend and hit the Hume Hwy to head home. We pulled up at 3am for a quick nap and arrived home at 7am.

An absolutely insane day to finish up our Victorian journey. 1 hour sleep in 24hrs.
It has truely been an epic journey, a genuine adventure.
We really have been humbled by how much we have been welcomed and the hospitality we have been shown by everyone.

We have already booked a couple of jobs in for our next visit.

Day 19…..VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘BBG come to the rescue’

Since meeting the Chris and Gav from BBG Autobody a few years ago we could tell that they were genuinely great guys and we always had fun and shared a few laughs when ever we caught up.

A soon as they guys found out about our little ‘incident’ they were straight on the phone offering what ever we needed to get us back on the road.
With in the day they sourced a tear tub, tail lights, rear bar and had it delivered to their workshop where Gav stripped it all down and re painted it white to match our ute.

This morning we arrived at their shop where they tore the back off our ute and swapped everything over for us, re mounted our canopy and even applied brand new side stickers to bring our Ute back to new 👌👌

Gav and Chris are true gentlemen. They dropped there work and worked around our silly schedule to ensure that we would drive back home with our accident just a distant memory.

We were done by 3 O’clock and headed to Chris’s place to do a final assembly on this recently painted lime glaze XA Coupe. We fitted Chris’ original Golde sunroof to his coupe last October and the guys from No Hurry restos did a beautiful job on the body and paint.

DAY 18…..VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘Local legend’

Ray and his XY have been a prominent part of the Melbourne street car scene for decades. A very popular car that has evolved over time.
Ray has entrusted his good friend and panel/paint magician Ange to carry out a complete make over.

Part of the rebuild has involved removing the old sunroof and replacing it with a new Option 10 sunroof. In this case we utilised Rays original sunroof lid which was in good condition.

If anyone has any doubt about Ange’s OCD check out the quality of the paint job he did on the sunroof frame before we installed it and how he laid out and labeled the mechanism when he dismantled it!

We utterly enjoyed our day with Ange and it was a pleasure to play a roll in the resurrection of this car.

Later in the afternoon we headed to Total Collision Repairs where Ray and the boys are into the restoration of his XC coupe.
We fitted his original Golde sunroof with the full Option 10 mechanism and cable set and got it up and operational for the guys to continue their body work.

DAY 17…..VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘Double trouble’

Today we ventured out to Point Cook Collision repairs. Darren contacted us months ago about installing two original Golde sunroofs which he already had to two of his cars.
It turned out to be a long day but we managed to get them both done. ✅

First one off the rank was a beautiful factory T code, T bar auto silver fox, maroon trim ZC Fairlane. Darren had the roof in bare metal for us which is always nice to work with.

The second car was a XW sedan which Darren has owned for many years. A very clean car which has not been on the road for many years.

The original OE Golde sunroofs always take a bit more effort to install compared yo a new Option 10 mainly because of their variances and inconsistencies in shape and curvature. We spend a lot more time tweaking/bending and re shaping the frames and quite often the lids before final fitting.

After a fair it of back and forth and replacement Option 10 cables and drive gears, both cars turned out very well. 👌👌

A big thank you to Darren and his wife Samantha for making us feel welcome and constantly offering us food, drinks, coffees. We had lunch with Darren during the day and Samantha made her way back to the workshop later in the evening with dinner and drinks for us 🙏

DAY 16…..VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘Metal magic’

Today we headed on a 1.5hr drive down to the Mornington peninsula to Rosebud Panels to meet Cam and the crew.
We arrived to the pleasant sight of a beautifully repaired bare metal XA coupe awaiting the Option 10 treatment. The job went very smoothly with a great result.
The level of these guys metal work was very impressive.
This car is now headed to the fabrication shop for a pair of tubs and rear end. It will be a top notch quality super tough street car.

In the afternoon we met up with Francis and his silver fox XW to have a look at his original sunroof which was fitted by a local installer. We used as many of his parts as possible and replaced the rest with new Option 10 parts to get it functioning for him.

DAY 15….VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘Rusty relics’

Today we ventured to nearby Reservoir to meet Craig and to install a new sunroof into his XA coupe.
The installation went smoothly besides the usual grief we have with any roof skin which has been blasted. Non the less the end result was great.

Next this car is off to get rust/panel and paint work done and what a job the boys have ahead of them. Repairing this car will be a huge undertaking but Craig has done it before and has the right team on his side.
It is sad to see these cars in such a state, but at the same time so hid to see that guys like Craig and his team are willing to invest the time and effort required to bring them back from a certain death.

DAY 14….VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘BIT OF WORK BIT OF LEISURE’

Today we visited Troy’s place to carry out an install into his XY. Troy is an absolute Ford nut so needless to say we got along like a house on fire.
We fitted the sunroof to his completely stripped shell which will be making its way to the guys at BBG Autobody soon for panel and paint work.
We finished up at a decent time so we decided to head to the Broadmeadows museum to check out the recently set up Ford exhibition. Very glad we made the time to visit. So many cool photos/information and items which you would never get the chance to see anywhere else.
Highly recomended for anyone interested in the great local automotive manufacturing industry that we once had.

DAY 13….VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘Childhood dream’

We fitted a sunroof for James back in 2022 during one of our early trips to Victoria. This time we carried out an install into his XY Fairmont.
James has owned this car since he was a teenager but other projects have taken priority. The time has now come to give it a big push to be completed and for James there was no better way to get motivation than to see it with the Option 10 box ticked ✅✅✅

DAY 12….VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
‘SURPRISE SURPRISE 😳😳’

Today we headed out to Werribee to fit up an Option 10 roof which we installed a few months back in our workshop in Sydney. The car is now painted and Brian from Western Street Trim weaved his magic yet again.

After lunch we arrived around the corner to Chris from Everything auto spares to install an original Golde sunroof into his XW.
Chris contacted us a few months back and mentioned that the car use to have a pop up sunroof, which is no issue. We arrived expecting to find a hole in the roof…..but instead found the hole had been welded up and literally over 10mm of bog over it 🤯🤯🤯🤯

I’m not going to lie! I had my doubts about this one and how it would come together, but we agreed with Chris that no matter the outcome, it would be better than the current situation!!
With this we proceeded to cut the hole and remove all the filler. Poor Chris’ workshop was a dust cloud!!
However, once the hole was cut and filler removed we were pleasantly surprised with the condition of the roof skin.
The final result was amazing. Great contours and good fit up. We assembled the roof with Chris’ original components and added a new pair of Option 10 cables and drive gear.
Chris was over the moon and we couldn’t be happier with the result. 👌👌

DAY 11…..VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025.
PRO STREET GOODNESS 💪💪

Today we travelled to Hell Bent Fabrications in Carrum downs to meet Kane and his team who carried out all the fabrication work on Birol’s Pro Street inspired XY Falcon.

The installation was straight forward and went quite smoothly 👌
The car is now heading for panel and paint work before assembly. This will be one seriously tough looking street car!

For anyone in VIC looking to have some nice quality fabrication work done, look up the guys at Hell bent Fabrications.

In the evening we had a long over due catch up with some cousins who live in Melbourne…a funny night with heaps of food and even more stories and laughs! 😂😂

DAY 10…..VIC JOURNEY SEP/OCT 2025. “Green is nice”

Today we had the pleasure of working on 2 rather cool cars.
We arrived at Classic Restorations to meet panel and paint maestro John who is well know for his high level work on many concourse award winning Falcons.
We carried out an installation into Nathan’s factory K code Monza green, 351, 4 speed Falcon GS.

Once we were done we headed straight to Western Street Trim where Brian was kind enough to let us use his shop well into the evening to carry out the final fit up on Harley’s jewel green, dove grey XW Fairmont. We installed this sunroof on our previous journey to VIC in 2024.

Unexpected set back!
😫😫😫🤯🤯🤯💥💥💥💥🚙👮‍♂️

After a long day carrying out an install and a fit up at BBG Autobody we were heading to pick up some parts and back to our hotel when we were involved in a car accident!

Thankfully there were no serious injuries besides a lot of our tools and parts which ended up scattered all over the road when our trailer was struck and the tailgate locks broke open!
We never thought we would ever be searching for and picking up a heap of Option 10 parts and tools off a busy road on a dark night.

While damaged… our car is still drivable (the other car was not as lucky) and we are off to Bunnings and our local Sydney tools shop to purchase what we need to keep the show on the road 💪

It’s all part of the adventure we suppose, and it could have been a lot worse. 🙏
