⛽ Are you claiming everything you’re entitled to in Fuel Tax Credits?

A lot of fleets are aware of FTC — but not always tracking it accurately.

We often hear:
• “We estimate it”
• “We just use a rough percentage”
• “We’re probably missing a bit”

And that’s usually the case.
Any off-road use (sites, depots, private roads) can be claimable — but only if it’s tracked properly.
With costs where they are right now, even small, missed amounts can add up.

🚛 Out on a customer site this week.

One thing we always take away from these visits — it’s about listening.

Hearing what’s actually happening day-to-day and where the pressure points are:
• Costs going up
• Jobs getting tighter
• Operations getting more complex

Every business is different, but a lot of the challenges are the same right now.

📉 Are rising costs starting to highlight small gaps in your fleet?

Fuel, insurance, operating costs — everything feels like it’s going up.

And when that happens, things like this start to stand out:
• Vehicles idling
• Personal use of work vehicles
• Maintenance getting pushed back
• Not always having clear visibility

On their own, they don’t seem like much.
But over time, they add up.

Keen to hear — what’s having the biggest impact on your fleet right now?

⛽ What if your fleet system could pay for itself?

Many fleets operate off-road more than they realise — on sites, in yards, or on private roads.

That fuel use can often be claimed through Fuel Tax Credits with the ATO.

When tracked properly, fleets can:

✔ Identify off-road operating hours
✔ Calculate eligible fuel usage
✔ Generate claim reports automatically

We recently worked with a fleet where the recovered credits covered the system cost in about 90 days.

Sometimes the biggest value in fleet technology isn’t just tracking vehicles.

It’s recovering money that would otherwise be missed.

🚗 Unauthorised vehicle use happens more often than people think.

Not theft — just things like:
• Taking a work vehicle home without approval
• Weekend use
• Personal errands during the day
• Vehicles moving outside business hours

Over time this can mean:
• Higher fuel costs
• Extra wear on vehicles
• Insurance headaches if something goes wrong

The fleets that manage this best usually pair clear policies with the right technology.

For example, setting up alerts when a vehicle moves outside normal business hours helps managers stay across what’s happening without constantly checking the system.

In many cases, that visibility alone is enough to stop the problem before it starts.

🧾 Fleet Manager Spreadsheet Bingo

Be honest… how many of these do you have?

✔️ A spreadsheet for vehicle maintenance
✔️ Another for inspections
✔️ Calendar reminders for rego dates
✔️ Emails for defect reports
✔️ A folder somewhere with compliance paperwork

It works… until something gets missed.

Running a fleet shouldn’t mean juggling five spreadsheets and a dozen reminders just to stay on top of things.

The operators who simplify this usually gain back something more valuable than admin time:

Peace of mind.

⛽ Fuel prices are rising again — and small inefficiencies start to add up fast.

With global tensions pushing oil prices higher, Australian fuel costs may continue climbing in the coming weeks.

For fleets, this is where good operational visibility makes a difference.

Things like:

• Vehicles idling longer than necessary
• Inefficient routes
• Harsh driving increasing fuel burn
• Maintenance issues affecting efficiency

Each one might seem small on its own.

But across an entire fleet — every day — the impact can be significant.
The fleets that monitor fuel trends and vehicle behaviour closely are usually the ones that manage rising costs best.

It’s not just about tracking vehicles.

It’s about understanding how they operate.

🚨 Accidents and fines rarely happen “out of nowhere.”

Usually, the warning signs were there first.
Speed creeping up.
Fatigue going unchecked.
Harsh braking becoming routine.
Small infringements adding up.
Alerts being ignored.

On their own, they don’t seem serious.
Over time, they become costly.
Repairs.
Insurance increases.
Vehicles off the road.
Unnecessary stress.

The fleets that use alerts well don’t wait for something major to happen.
They step in early.
They coach.
They correct patterns.
They prevent repeat issues.

Alerts aren’t about creating noise.
They’re about avoiding bigger problems later.
