A beautiful Ferrari F12berlinetta spotted at MACq 01 on Hobart’s wharf today. The last series production Ferrari designed by iconic Italian coach builder Pininfarina, the F12 is arguably one of the best looking grand tourers to wear a prancing horse badge. While fourteen years have passed since its introduction, the F12 remains a magnificently fast and powerful machine, with a 6.3L naturally-aspirated V12 developing 545kW & 690Nm driving the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It’ll rev to a screaming 8,700rpm redline, with a noise as exquisite as its appearance.

A different kind of Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen spotted in Battery Point on Sunday. You’ll find no AMG badges here, or even an engine for that matter. The ‘G580 with EQ Technology’, is Mercedes’ first crack at an off-road capable EV. Powered by four seperate electric-motors (one for each wheel), combined power is an impressive 432kW, with a planet-shifting 1164Nm of torque. It’s got real off-road chops too, equipped with low-range via a second reduction gear on each of the four electric motors in addition to ‘virtual’ diff locks which lock the rotational speeds of the motors side to side. Thanks to a massive 116 kilowatt hour battery, range is a claimed 473km. You might expect it to cost more than the ever-popular G63, however pricing for the G580 begins at $270k, some $139k cheaper than the V8-powered AMG which starts at $409k.

Carrying on with the Aston Martin theme we seem to have going at the moment, here’s a handsome V8 Vantage spotted earlier this year outside TMAG in Hobart. Available in both V8 and V12 variants, this generation of Vantage was one of the longest running Aston’s in history, with production spanning thirteen years from 2005 until 2018, after which the present generation was introduced. During that production run, a total of 28 different variants of the Vantage were sold, with the car undergoing multiple facelifts and enhancements over the years. Thanks to Ollie Gray for the photo.

A gorgeous Aston Martin DB12 spotted cruising through Hobart’s CBD yesterday. First seen back in April, it joins just one other local DB12 that we’re aware of; a Volante finished in a similar colour combination which also resides in the states South. The DB12 is the first car in the famed DB lineage to forego V12 power entirely, with a Mercedes-AMG sourced V8 used instead. Happily however, that V8 outputs a rather hefty 500kW & 800Nm, so performance certainly won’t be an issue. Despite its similar appearance to the previous DB11, the DB12 represents a major evolution over the outgoing model, particularly in regard to its driving dynamics and interior, which are drastically improved. Awesome spot, Ollie Gray.

Having arrived in the state a little over a month ago, this is our first feature of this stunning new Aston Martin Vanquish. Optioned to the nines, this spectacular example is finished in Synapse Orange and features satin bronze wheels, Gulf Orange brake calipers and a titanium exhaust system to let its twin-turbocharged 5.2L V12 sing. And sing it does, with an incredible 614kW and 1000Nm on tap, all sent to the rear-wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It’ll clock triple digits in 3.3 seconds, and will hit 345km/h flat out. Incredible spot, Noah

Tassie’s unmistakable Green Hell Magno Mercedes-AMG G63 spotted at Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart over the weekend. Bold would be an understatement when describing this satin metallic green coloured BiTurbo V8 Geländewagen, but we applaud the owner for selecting an interesting colour over the all too common bland choices. Thanks to for the photo.

Spotted in Devonport recently, this striking Lotus Emira highlights the car’s gorgeous exterior design. Originally intended to be the British marque’s last ever internal-combustion engined vehicle, market trends have seen this plan shelved, with plug-in hybrid powertrains planned for future models. Nicely spotted, Cordell Richardson.

A stunning selection of Porsche GT cars and a McLaren 650S Spider spotted out enjoying last weekend’s unseasonably warm weather in the state’s North. The group included a vibrant Racing Yellow 991 911 GT3 which is a new arrival to the state, a brand new 992.2 GT3 and one of a small handful of locally delivered 992 911 GT3 RS. What interesting cars have you spotted out and about recently?
Thanks to Mat Jomon for the photos.

A Lamborghini Huracán Performante finished in striking ‘Grigio Titans’ spotted on Hobart’s Constitution Dock this afternoon. Wearing newly registered Tasmanian plates, it joins at least one other Performante in the state which is identically specified, but wears a different design of factory wheels. Lamborghini released many iterations of the Huracán during its eleven year production run, including the wild STO and Sterrato from more recent times, however the Performante remains something of a high water mark for the model, offering the most complete package and the best performance figures of the entire range. Exceptional spot, Joshua Bodycoat.

A vibrant McLaren Artura spotted in a Hobart CBD carpark recently. As McLaren’s first series-production hybrid, the Artura marks a significant shift for the company as they and their competitors from Ferrari and Lamborghini lean heavily into hybridisation, chasing increased performance while simultaneously adjusting to meet ever tightening emissions targets. Fear not however, as the Artura’s 120-degree 3.0L twin-turbo V6, while small, is still potent. Combined with the axial flux e-motor mounted between it and its 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, it’ll produce 500kW & 720Nm; absurd figures for a car weighing less than 1500kg. Other differences between the Artura and prior McLarens include its use of an electronic differential and a new design of rear suspension. Joyfully, as with other McLarens, hydraulic-steering remains, making the brand one of, if not the only sports car manufacturer to still offer it on new cars. Thanks to for the photo.
