Hi guys nearly there ... one more day to go and the first week of school holidays done. So far I have managed to survive the I'm bored and I want unscathed but let's see what the nect week brings. (The devil child I feel).

So this weeks topic is Engine Mounts. We have had a few come through the shop this week and some are like oh thats what that noise has been.

There are some signs that your engine mounts need replacing and on average you should replace your engine mounts when they reach 100,000 to 150,000 (roughly 5 to 10 years).

If you notice excessive vibration, clunking noises, engine movement and off course visual damage it's time to replace. Make sure you are replacing the set as once one fails the others are not that far behind.

If you have any of the signs listed above don't hesitate to drop by the shop so the boys can check for you. We would rather you pay for engine mounts then damage to surrounding parts from the engine not being secure as well.

Don't forget if your heading off on a drive somewhere to curb those 2 words to make sure your service is up to date and air in your tyres at the recommended psi.

Hi all - happy Tuesday :)

Just letting you all know a couple of changes to our working week this week.

Wednesday (tomorrow) we need to attend an important meeting that has just come up. This will most likely take most of the day. If this changes, we will let you know.

Friday we will definitely be closed all day as we will be on to Coast celebrating my mums / the boys nans 80th birthday with a whole family reunion. It's going to be good catching up with family that has travelled from Melbourne and we haven't seen for some time.

We apologise if this causes any inconvenience for anyone and we look forward to keeping your car on the road safely and as economically for you as possible.

Don't forget if you're in the area and feel like a chat your most welcome to just pop in and say hi. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day as the countdown to school holidays begins.

Rear brakes on a Hyundai i20. Owner of the vehicle wanted to get them done before they were on metal (as you should)

And it's lucky they did as we found the slide pins for the caliper brackets hadn't been greased for years. Causing the pad to seize and cause uneven wear and a massive safety risk!

Allgood now, as everything is sorted for a price that doesn't make your eyes water.

Had an FG Falcon in for a set of engine + gearbox mounts, along with a reconditioned tailshaft and brakes all around. Its safe to say this thing drives way smoother.

Have a look at that centre bearing, wasn't even doing anything anymore. Mind blowing stuff. Rest assured everything has been sorted for reasonable money that doesn't leave you asking the bank for a loan for basic swap in/out items 🙂

Let's talk about the all important Spark Plugs.

I guess the most common question is when do they need replacing?

Well this depends on the type of spark plug in your car.
- Copper/Nickel plugs need to be replaced every 30,000 to 45,000kms.
- Standard Platinum / Iridium plugs every 80,000 to 120,000kms and - Double Platinum / long life Iridium every 130,000 to 160,000kms.

That doesn't mean they can't go bad outside these intervals though!

So now I guess your thinking are there signs that my spark plugs need replacing?
Yep there is so make sure to keep a look out for the following:
* Rough idling
* Engine misfires
* Poor acceleration
* Hard Starting
* High fuel usgae
* And the all important check engine light.

DId you know that changing Spark Plugs does not come with a Minor or Major service unless requested. Remember if your not sure the boys are here to help.
