Firecracker wins the Fareast 28R Nationals

Winds settled after a stormy opening on day 1 at the Sydney Harbour Regatta and brezes turned more consistent under a beautiful sunny sky on Sunday.

Racing became very close with tight top mark roundings, it wasn’t 1 boat dominating the fleet like last year (Ming) but many taking out a win.

Firecracker (Scott Lawson) sailed most consistently, winning the Nationals. Followed by new to the class and best runner up Sparrow (Peter Higgins) who scored two wins and a second on day 2.
Hot on their heels with shared points was Wildling (Conrad Johnston) and Ming finishing 4th this year.

All crews had a great time racing, but also after racing coming together at the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron for a beer and a laugh each day.

The opening race at the Australian Fareast 28R Nationals saw plenty breeze and challenging gusts.

Firecracker skippered by Scott Lawson fired off with a win in the first race, followed by two seconds. Wildling (Conrad Johnston) opened with a fifth and two wins!
Last year’s OD Class winner Ming (Jonathan Rogers) sailed consistently and took 3rd position, while brand new Sparrow (Peter Higgins) showed lots of potential in the top of the fleet and currently sits in fourth position.

All cards are on the table with the top 3 only 2 point separated from each other, which team will master the light conditions best, today at the Sydney Harbour Regatta?
