We will need to watch this as it unfolds as there will likely be implications for other users. What do people know about the TMR / Council arrangements for users of this facility that they can share?

A LONG-RUNNING bitter dispute over the management of the Clump Point Boating Facility has escalated significantly, with marine tourism operator Myroo Group lodging a formal complaint to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).

Great news for our region.
Will take a bit of pressure off Clump Point once completed.

CONSTRUCTION has finally kicked off on the long-awaited $2.5 million Kurrimine Beach boat ramp upgrade, but local residents and boaties have been left stranded in a state of administrative “limbo”.

Clear skies and calm conditions = Safe boating? Think again… Of the 328 marine incidents reported across Queensland in 2025:

· 70% occurred in designated smooth waters
· 62% occurred in clear weather
· 66% occurred in good visibility
· 59% occurred in winds below 16 knots.

The most commonly reported marine incident? Collisions between vessels. The message is simple: operating in good weather conditions and calmer waters, or closer to shore is no guarantee of safety.

Stay alert every time you are on the water. Always travel at a safe speed - and keep a proper lookout.
