Aftermarket Spring Test Completed
Disclaimer: This test was conducted to explore an alternative aftermarket option for the now-discontinued Control Spring LC8 3.5 Bar (OEM part number 60038026000). The aim is not to address theories regarding its effectiveness in resolving the cam problem but to provide fellow riders with an option for achieving higher oil pressure on their bikes.
If you'd like to discuss the pros and cons of that theory, this is not the forum for it. We're just a couple of riders trying to help others by providing access to this option. As the saying goes, "I'd rather be looking at it than looking for it." If you're not interested in the spring, feel free to scroll on—negativity isn’t welcome here.
Test Details:
Test Bike 1:
Model: 2020 KTM 790R
Mileage: 7777 km
Conditions: Warm engine, oil filter removed, fresh oil (Motorex CROSS POWER 10W60)
OEM Spring:
Idle (1500 rpm): 1.93 bar
6000 rpm: 2.92 bar
Aftermarket Spring:
Idle (1500 rpm): 2.92 bar
6000 rpm: 4.17 bar
Test Bike 2:
Model: 2020 KTM 790R
Mileage: 1803 km
Conditions: Warm engine, oil filter removed, fresh oil (Motorex CROSS POWER 10W60)
Observations: This bike had slightly higher baseline oil pressure due to its lower mileage and tighter engine. However, the pressure increases with the aftermarket spring were consistent.
OEM Spring (60038026000):
Idle (1500 rpm): 3.09 bar
6000 rpm: 4.01 bar
Results:
The test was successful, with the aftermarket spring producing noticeable increases in oil pressure compared to the OEM spring. Additionally, there was a noticeable quietness in the engine after installing the aftermarket spring.
