Tyres lose air over time, so it is important to check your tyre pressure regularly.

Incorrect tyre pressure can make it harder to handle your car, impairing the steering, cornering, acceleration and braking.

Lifespan of your tyres is reduced with badly inflated tyres.

Fuel consumption is increased if tyres have insufficient pressure which increases the rolling distance on the road.

Our Technicians check the tyre pressure of your vehicle at every service, and adjust it if needed.

A number of Kia's are being recalled due to the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit possibly remaining live even after the vehicle is switched off. If moisture enters the HECU, an electrical short circuit can occur.

The following vehicles are affected:
Kia Soul 2010-2013
Kia XM Sorento 2010-2014
Kia TD Cerato 2009-2013
Kia SL Sportage 2009-2013
Kia TF Optima 2010-2015
Kia Rio UB 2011-2016
Kia SLe Sportage 2013-2014
Kia UN Rondo 2009-2012
Kia RP Rondo 2012-2018
Kia KM Sportage 2009

If you own one of these vehicles within the year range, please check your VIN number at www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au or check with your nearest Dealership.

These recalls highlight the importance of registering the Change of Ownership with the Dealership.

The THERMOSTAT, which sits between the engine and the radiator, controls coolant flow to the engine. The thermostat remains closed when the engine is cold, allowing the engine to quickly reach the optimal temperature. Once this has been reached, the thermostat opens, allowing the flow of coolant through to the engine block and preventing the engine from overheating.

Driving your vehicle at high temperature causes damage to other major components and can result in engine failure.

In the photo below, the thermostat was unable to open having been blocked by the perished rubber seal and coolant oxidisation.

Unfortunately, as the thermostat was not replaced earlier, it has resulted in cylinder head and engine block damage, and the engine having to be replaced.

It is always good practice to regularly replace the coolant, and have the cooling system checked.

The main role of the TIMING BELT (also known as Cam Belt) is to control the timing and sequence of when the valves to the cylinders open and close. To do that, it makes sure that the crankshaft and the camshaft rotate in sync.
- The engine’s camshaft controls the valves, letting fuel and air in and out.
- The crankshaft moves the pistons up and down at the same time.
These 2 actions must be synchronised to avoid damage to the valves, pistons or other engine parts.
It is important to replace the Timing Belt at the correct interval, whether by kilometers, or time.
The following photo is of a severely cracked Timing Belt that was over due for replacement by time, even though it hadn't reached the kilometer interval . This belt could have snapped at any time and without warning.
If the cam belt snaps while you are driving, the engine could seize up, causing steering and brakes to fail. The pistons can hit the valves in the cylinders, damaging the engine resulting in a very costly repair.

The WATER PUMP moves coolant through the engine block, cylinder head, hoses and radiator maintaining an optimum operating temperature.

The pump uses impeller blades and centrifugal force to move the coolant through the cooling system.

In the photo below, the blades have rusted and disintegrated. The main cause of this is not replacing the coolant at the correct service interval. This also occurs when cars have been sitting for long periods of time and the coolant becomes corroded.

The first sign of an issue is the engine overheating.

With regular servicing and timely repairs, any car can reach these milestones.

30/07/2024

Hitting pot holes or kerbs, driving too fast over speed humps even a minor accident can cause the wheels to become misaligned, as well as the normal wear and tear of the suspension parts.

Driving for extended periods with wheels out of alignment can lead to reduced fuel economy, premature wear on tyres and steering issues that could put you at risk.
