JE Ride & Drive Mechanical - Monthly Catch-Up 🏍️🔧

A bit of a slower month here at JE Ride & Drive Mechanical, with a few smaller jobs and, of course, a couple of modifications to our personal bikes 😁

Personal bike mods first 😅

🏍️ Partner's Ninja 650
Installed a new fairing kit on my partner's Ninja 650. Really happy with how it all turned out - definitely a head turner now 🤌😂

🏍️ Kawasaki Z H2
Installed a shifter support bracket from RaceTorx on my Z H2 and somehow it's managed to make the already-crispy shifts even crisper 😅 Aslo cleaned and adjusted the drive chain.

🏍️ Honda CBR600F4i
Came in with a charging issue. Diagnosed the fault and determined the stator was faulty, so we replaced both the stator and rectifier and she was good to go once again 😁

While I was waiting for some sealant to set, I also tidied up some of the wiring under the seat and around the frame.

🏍️ Suzuki GS500
Carried out a rear caliper rebuild, which unfortunately turned into a caliper replacement due to how difficult the rebuild parts were to source.

The replacement caliper was painted in a heat-resistant gold to match the aesthetics of the bike, and we also installed some HEL braided brake lines in a clean gold finish. They look great on the bike 👌

We also replaced a few oil seals, including the clutch shaft seal, shifter shaft seal and the seal behind the front sprocket, along with the retaining plate that keeps everything nicely secured 😁

🏍️ Kawasaki Ninja 650
Called out to a customer to replace a dead battery. Nice and easy one 👍

Pretty quiet month overall, but I'm still incredibly happy to be able to do what I'm doing and keep working on some awesome bikes.

Monthly catch-up from JE Ride & Drive Mechanical! 🤙

It's been a busy few weeks in the workshop with a bit of everything.

Yamaha FJR1300 - Finished installing the Stedi spotlights. It's coming back in this weekend for a few changes to the switching setup to get everything operating exactly how the owner wants.

Hyosung Aquila GV650 - New tyre fitted along with a rear wheel alignment to have it riding straight and true again.

Yamaha V-Star 650 - Finally wrapped this one up 😉 We completed the vinyl wrap, fitted the extended handlebars, longer cables and brake line, and repaired a dent in the fuel tank. I reckon the Surf Blue and chrome combination looks absolutely mint. 🤌

A massive shout-out to Ardian at Thatz a Wrap for helping me out with the tank while I was dealing with a shoulder injury. Really appreciate the help mate!

And finally... the DRZ400. 🤦‍♂️😂

This bike has definitely been testing me! What started as a simple no-start has turned into one of those jobs where you fix one issue only to uncover the next. So far we've repaired a fuel leak, rectified a no-spark issue, and then discovered an intake valve leak/sticking valve causing inconsistent compression. The cylinder head is now being organised for a rebuild, and once it's back we'll get everything reassembled and have this bike back on the road where it belongs. 🤙

Got some accessory fitting on the cards today for Rick's extremely clean Yamaha FJR 😁

We'll be fitting a new battery, along with a nice pair of blacked-out Stedi cube spotlights that should look absolutely mint on the bike. Also installing a set of bar risers to make those long rides even more comfortable 🤌

Last but definitely not least, we'll be wiring in a Quad Lock charger so everything is ready for the next adventure 😁

Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out! 🔧🏍️⚡️

Ater a week away, it's time to get back into it!

Before heading off, I got the Yamaha Scorpio all finished up - rebuilt forks, new tyres and tubes front and rear, fixed a sticking throttle issue, and knocked over a whole bunch of other little jobs. Overall, I'm really happy with how it turned out 😁

The little pit bike is well underway with electrical fault diagnosis, got a DR-Z back in for a rebuilt carburettor installation, and I also squeezed in a quick kill switch replacement on a Ninja 650.

Plenty more on the horizon too, with a major repair and custom vinyl wrap for a V-Star coming into the workshop soon.

Also may have a little something-something that's happened very recently... 👀 You'll have to keep an eye out at the next bike meet-up if you want to see what that's all about! 😎🏍️

Got the little Yamaha Scorpio in today for some TLC, new tyres, rebuilt forks, output shaft seal and a couple other little bits. I know the owner is super keen to get it back and itll be better than even once she does 😁😁

Sometimes I get litre bikes… Other times a complete behemoth like this rolls through the door 😂😂

Tiny bike in today for some diag for a non start, and an inspection before the young owner gets back on it 😁

Busy Sunday in the workshop, 3 bikes, 3 completely different jobs 😅😬

Started the day nice and easy with a 2018 Ninja 650 in for a basic service including engine oil, oil filter, check-over, and a chain clean/adjust. Big welcome to the owner who had just moved up from NSW 👋😁

Then things got a bit more 'interesting' 😅 with a 2008 BMW F800GS that didn’t like mornings… dash would play up intermittently when cold. Luckily the owner came in clutch with some solid info, which led me to a faulty capacitor on the dash motherboard. Bit of research, bit of soldering then back in business.

And to round out the day, a 2007 Yamaha Scorpio that’s officially moved in for a few weeks. This one’s getting the full treatment before it’s trusted back on the road, I’ll be chipping away at it between jobs. Starting with a front fork rebuild and tyres then we'll see what she needs to be roadworthy 😁

From simple services to chasing tiny electrical gremlins… keeps the weekend interesting 👌

Back in the workshop with a couple of Hondas through the door 👌

• 2005 CBR600F - rear tyre replacement with wheel balance on a return customer’s bike
• 2023 CBR650R - quick chain adjustment to keep everything running smooth

Both jobs went exactly how you want (with no surprises 😉). Always good to have a proper chat with the owners afterwards as well 😁

Basic service and inspection carried out on a very tidy 2021 Triumph Street Triple 660.

- Engine oil and oil filter replacement

- Chain clean, adjustment, and re-tension to spec

- General inspection across brakes, tyres, drivetrain, and fasteners to make sure everything is safe and road-ready

Always good to see a well-looked-after bike come through 👌 Ready to get back out on the road.
