Serious discussion time.

If someone told you that you were going to be in a car accident tomorrow, would you do anything differently today?

From 2020-2024, transport accidents were the second biggest killer of children aged between 1-4 and 5-9 years old. For children aged 10-14, transport accidents were the 3rd biggest killer.

In regional areas, the percentages increased.

Someone asked me this question 10 years ago, and that kickstarted my passion for correct car seat safety, and spreading awareness to as many carers of children as possible.

So what would you do?

Would you triple check your newborn is strapped in correctly?

Would you turn your toddler back to rear facing?

Would you cancel upgrading your 4 year old to a booster seat and keep them harnessed?

Would you make your 7-12 year old sit in a booster even though it’s not “cool”?

Would you read your restraints manual, or seek advice from someone who can help?

This post is frightening and these statistics are sad. But this is the reality every single time you get in a vehicle with children.
You take a gamble.
You simply cannot control other drivers on the road or freak happenings. But you CAN control how correctly your child’s restraint is installed, and how safely they are buckled in.

If sharing this makes just one adult make changes to their children’s safety in the car then we have made a difference.
