DEFY Performance Boxer Performance Tuning has been created as an outlet for clientele to use, ask any tuning and performance related questions, and to make enquiries.

This page is run by Sean Day, former owner and operator of S&J Automotive,
Sean has been tuning Subaru’s, Nissan GT-R’s and Mitsubishi EVO’s since 1999, and nowadays also restores rare JDM classics with his wife Jo at their dedicated facility 🚙 This page will include technical articles, general tips, which include advice on choosing the right performance parts for the desired outcome!

Cars that we tune are either being upgraded to improve drivability and fuel economy and/or outright torque and power. We expect that our clients will only be testing and experiencing increased performance at sanctioned motorsport events, as we in no way condone the breaking of any road rules.

660 hours into the extensive restoration of this incredible 1987-1996 Australian Touring Car Championship M3🏁 It’s truly worth every minute given its preserved overall condition and heritage. The ATTC driver line up incudes Jim Richards, Tony Longhurst, Peter Brock, Neil Crompton, David Parsons and my all time favourite privateer duo, Peter Doulman and John Cotter! This car won Australia’s first ever 2.0L Touring Car Championship in 1993 in the hands of Peter!!!
Currently completed is JPS black interior and underbody, and shortly the BMW Alpine White will be applied with the 05 Mobil 1 livery🏁

The inaugural running of the Australian Auto-Sport sanctioned Tsukiyo Time Attack took place at the historic Mallala Motorsport Park in South Australia on Saturday March 28 and proved to be a major success.
