BEWARE: Paramedics have treated a woman who was bitten by a deadly blue-ringed octopus in Mosman this afternoon.
The woman was swimming and picked up a shell which contained a small blue-ringed octopus. The octopus fell from the shell and bit her twice on the stomach.
“A blue-ringed octopus bite is a rare call for us, but they are extremely venomous," says Inspector Christian Holmes.
“The patient was experiencing some abdominal pain around the bite site so paramedics applied pressure and a cold compress before taking her to Royal North Shore hospital to be monitored and treated for further symptoms.”
The blue-ringed octopus is one of the world's most venous marine creatures. Its venom is considered more potent than cyanide.

Warning from ABC yesterday - Be wary of Used caravan and RV scammers too - using similar tactics !
They are using legitimate used vehicle sales websites and of course Market Place and Gumtree.
Buyers and sellers both at risk.

Mark Bardsley was on the hunt for a second-hand car when he came across what seemed to be a good deal on a trusted car-sales website. It ended with scammers having his personal details.

Today is December the 17th. That might not mean much to most people, but to us it is a life changing anniversary. On December the 17th 2020 my family purchased the Trangie Caravan Park. So here we are 2 years later. Having survived multiple covid lockdowns, mouse plagues and now floods to feel like we have come out on top. Not just to have survived but to say the we have thrived. To have uprooted our lives and made our new home the amazing township of Trangie. Made new friends, and had some amazing experiences. And to look forward to the future with excitement and anticipation for even greater things to come. So from all of us, to the township of Trangie and all our incredible guests over the last 2 years we would like to say thankyou. And we look forward to what the future brings in our new home. Paul, Clarissa, Alex and Chris.

LADIES….. How many of you put your hands up to drive when travelling around the country with your partner??

I sure do and I can do it well.

I’m actually quite astounded that in all the travelling we’ve done, I don’t see a whole lot of women driving! And my question to you is WHY not?
Ladies, don’t be afraid!

I believe that it’s imperative that everyone knows how to drive and tow when travelling!
What happens if you’re in a situation where your partner gets hurt or has a medical episode?
What happens if you are in some stunning remote location but have no phone reception and not another soul in sight?
How are you going to get medical help?
YOU are going to have to drive, and you need to know how if the caravan is hooked up! And if you want to unhook… can you do that?

Let’s say the caravan isn’t hooked up! Are you going to be happy leaving your investment parked up in a free camp or somewhere in the bush unattended? Not knowing when you’re going to be able to collect it… and fingers crossed it’s still there when you get back!

Which brings me to the next thing… can you hook up your caravan for towing?
Can you back up and get the van hitched to the vehicle?
Do you know how to connect the Anderson plugs, attach the chains, deal with the jockey wheel?

You don’t want a crash course when your partner is in pain and barking out orders.. it’s just a stressful pressure cooker situation.
I’ve heard plenty of excuses as to why women don’t drive, and some women simply do not want to or have no experience and therefore no confidence. However some of it comes from the partner…

❌ Oh she doesn’t know how to tow a caravan. 😖

❌ She does the navigating I do the driving. 😖

❌ I don’t trust her driving especially towing our 100K caravan. 😖

❌ It’s the mens department. 😖

The list goes on…

But honestly guys and girls, if you’re the one who’s had a heart attack or fallen down a cliff and broken your leg.. I’m pretty sure you’d be wanting her to get you to some medical facility…

SO TEACH HER ‼️‼️

She just needs some instruction and practice! There are also many towing courses that can be done! Oh and make sure you can change a tyre 🙌🏼

It was photographed by Nino Lo Giudice from the rooftop of fellow photographer David Kapernick’s apartment on the edge of the Brisbane River.

This FA-18F Super Hornet is based at Amberley RAAF Base Queensland and was taken during the Riverfire rehearsal.
Riverfire is an event held as part of the Brisbane Festival.

Be careful with ‘Fuel Theft’

[ Fuel Theft ] Yup...we discovered that this is a thing! Has it ever happened to you?
Last night we pulled up at a Free Camp just outside Eulo in Outback Qld, it was already dark and no other rigs were there...we decided to push on to the next one which had great reviews and were happy to see six or so other rigs. We'd driven from Birdsville so it was straight to bed for us. We stayed hitched up ready for an early morning start. Wayne got up and discovered our fuel door open and our cap hanging out! At some point between 8pm & 7am some bu**er had siphoned the diesel out of our car tank! (Yes, the car was locked & they jimmied the cap)
Lucky for us, they left the full Jerry we had on the back and we got to Cunnamulla to fill up... Definitely a first for us & a bit creepy!

BOIL WATER ALERT – DUBBO

Thursday 7 July, 8:00am

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) has issued a BOIL WATER alert for properties connected to town water in Dubbo. This covers the areas of Dubbo, Firgrove, Wongarbin, Eumungerie, Ballimore, Mogriguy, and Brocklehurst.

The Boil Water Alert is effective immediately and expected to be in place for at least 7 days. Poor raw water quality currently coming from the Macquarie River into the Dubbo Water Treatment Plant following the recent flooding has caused problems with water treatment, making drinking water unsafe.
Water used for drinking or food preparation should be brought to a rolling boil to make it safe. Kettles with automatic shut off switches can do this. Water should then be allowed to cool and stored in a clean container with a lid and refrigerated.
Everyone, particularly people caring for young children, should be careful to avoid scalding, when you are heating and then cooling the water.
Residents are advised use cooled, boiled water or bottled water for:
• Drinking
• Brushing teeth
• Washing and preparing food or beverages
• Preparing baby formula
• Making ice
• Pet’s drinking water
Tap water may be used directly for:
• Showering and bathing (residents should minimise that amount of water taken into their mouth). As a precaution babies and toddlers should be sponge bathed
• Washing dishes by hand in hot soapy water or in a dishwasher provided dishes are air-dried before being used after washing
• Washing clothes
If you cannot boil the water, unscented household bleach (containing 4% – 5% available chlorine) may be used. Add 2 drops of bleach to 1 litre of water (or 4 drops if the water is cloudy), mix well, and allow to stand for 30 minutes before use.

The town’s water filling stations have been temporarily closed and token holders are able to use the water filling station at Wellington.

Alerts have been sent to local and regional media outlets, posted online at dubbo.nsw.gov.au and on social media via DRC’s page and in the Dubbo Community Noticeboard pages.
Dubbo Regional Council will provide regular updates on Dubbo’s water supply quality through its webpage and its page. Updates will also be provided to local and regional media.

⚠ URGENT SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENT - Swift Cookers 500 Series

As per our instructions from Swift Appliance Group, we wish to advise ALL customers that there is a ‘potential safety issue’ with Swift 500 Series Cookers (mini grill or oven/cooktops) produced & supplied since 2004. The Government of WA’s Building & Energy Department advised Swift Appliances of this ‘potential safety issue’ & an investigation is currently underway.

Although this matter was previously relevant to WA only, restrictions in the use of this unit have been extended to all other states until further notice.

At this stage, no recall has been issued, however we should know more once the findings of the investigation come to light. In the meantime, we have been asked to make ALL customers aware of this matter & advise as follows:
• Please cease using your Swift 500 series gas cooktop, grill and/or oven IMMEDIATELY until further notice.
• Please turn the yellow gas isolation switch located in cupboard below oven to the OFF position (see photo in post)
• Electrical element can still be used if required.
• Post investigations, customers will be contacted & advised of the process to be followed if any corrective action is required.

We’ve had some unusual things left behind in our hire caravans - this was a first 😹
Please check your caravan carefully and remove all items especially- p***y 🐈 cats.
Puss was reunited a short time later - lucky our service guy was doing the service straight after return.
Our own on-site cat many years was once a stowaway in the back of a hire caravan- we spotted her as our employee driver was turning out the gate.
