Coopers Plains Long Acres Fire Department To provide fire protection, emergency medical aid and to respond to calls of assistance for preservation of life and property to which we are trained

The Coopers Plains-Long Acres Fire Department was incorporated in 1953. It was started with one truck, a 1936 Ward LaFrance/Ford Pumper, and some portable pumps by the men who wanted to have a fire department. The fire department building was completed in 1955. It was remodeled in 1974, and in 1985 the department built a second floor addition which includes a kitchen and community room, as well as adding fire bays. The current building has five truck bays and storage on the ground floor. The fire district includes all of Long Acres and Coopers Plains, which is NYS Route 415 from the Village of Painted Post line to the Campbell Town line. In addition, the district includes Aurene; West Hill Road; Smith Hill Road; and the portions of Beeman Hollow Road, Erwin Hollow Road and King Hill Road in the Town of Erwin. The department provides joint fire protection for the area including Corning Incorporated’s Sullivan Park facility. The fire department is a Volunteer Fire Department with an Insurance Services Organization (ISO) fire suppression rating of Class 4. The fire department is very proud of this rating because it is usually only earned by full time professional city fire departments. Besides fire suppression, the fire department provides BLS First Response for EMS calls, vehicle extrication, and has a large cache of cribbing and Rescue 42 stabilization struts for vehicle and building stabilization. Coopers Plains Fire Department is also a participating member of the Steuben Regional Technical Rescue Task Force for structural and trench collapse rescue.

🚒🔥 Kicking off National Fire Prevention Week! 🔥🚒
What a GREAT day at The Home Depot Kids’ Safety Day! ❤️
We were proud to bring our apparatus out and spend the day with our community, showing kids what we do, talking about fire safety, and letting them get an up-close look at the equipment our firefighters use.
And we had some pretty special visitors too! 🐾🔥 Sparky the Fire Dog and Smokey the Bear stopped by to help make the day even more memorable! 🐻🚒
A HUGE thank you to LifeNet for bringing their medical helicopter and giving everyone the opportunity to see it up close! 🚁❤️ What an incredible experience for the kids (and let's be honest… the adults loved it too! 😉).
Thank you to AMR, Painted Post Fire Department, Gang Mills Fire Department, Caton Fire Department, LifeNet, and all of our first responder friends who came out and made the day such a success!
Days like this are about more than just fire trucks. ❤️ They’re about community, education, prevention, and building relationships with the families we serve.

🚒 Coopers Plains Long Acres Volunteer Fire Department! 🚒

Saturday, we had the pleasure of joining our community for a fun-filled Community Day at the airport! ✈️

Events like these give us the opportunity to connect with the people we serve, introduce our department, share what we do, and hopefully inspire some future firefighters along the way!

It was a wonderful day of community engagement, recruitment opportunities, and fun for the kids and families who came out to enjoy the festivities.

At the end of the day, we're your neighbors, your volunteers, and your first responders. We love being part of this community and having the opportunity to serve it! ❤️🚒

🚒 Annual Hose Testing | Coopers Plains Long Acres Volunteer Fire Department
Part of our responsibility to the community is ensuring that our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready when the call comes in.
Each year, we perform annual hose testing on all hose carried on our apparatus, along with our stored spare hose, to ensure it meets applicable NFPA standards and is ready for service.
This important process allows us to inspect and test our hoses, couplings, fittings, nozzles, and equipment for weaknesses, wear, or potential failures. Any necessary repairs or replacements are addressed to maintain the safety and reliability of our equipment.
Why do we do it? Because when seconds count, our firefighters need to know their equipment will perform as expected.
It's more than routine maintenance. It's a commitment to protecting our firefighters, our community, and the equipment we depend on to serve you.
Your safety is our priority, both on the fireground and behind the scenes. ❤️🚒

We are one week away from W**eglass! Runners, we can’t wait to welcome you into our small town and cheer as you chase your goals. Spectators, bring the energy to Market Street and watch over 7,000 racers cross the finish line. Volunteers, thank you for you the time and enthusiasm you bring, let’s put on another incredible event this year!
