Where I stand on your data with Tester Engineering Suite. πŸ”§

There's a trend in diagnostic tools that gives me the sh*ts. Cloud-tethered scan tools. Telemetry. Tools that treat your workshop as a data farm and you as the product.

So I'll put mine in writing.

TES doesn't collect your vehicle data. Full stop.
No VINs. No regos. No customer details. No location. No scan results. What happens between you, the car, and the tool stays on your machine. I built it that way on purpose, and it's staying that way.

The smart stuff learns locally β€” from YOUR workshop, for YOUR workshop.
TES has a diagnostic intelligence engine that gets sharper the more cars you put through it. When a fix sorts a fault, the tool remembers "on this platform, this fault got fixed by this repair" β€” knowledge about cars, never about anyone's car. Think of it as your bench notebook, kept in your own handwriting, in your own drawer. Nothing phones home. There's no server watching. There's nothing to opt out of, because nothing was collecting in the first place.

No cloud. No account harvesting. No "anonymized data" fine print.
I'm a mechanic. If I ever build a way for workshops to share what they've learned, it'll work the way we've always shared β€” one shop hands another what they know, over the counter, your call. TES itself will still transmit nothing. That's a promise, not a setting buried in a menu.

I'm building the best fault-finding tool I know how to build. But not by selling you out, and not by touching your customers' privacy.

Your data is yours. The tool works for you. That's the whole deal.

TES's Diagnostic Intelligence layer hard at work....(This is not AI, its straight up maths and engineering over a data stream from OBD2)

On TES's Diagnostic Intelligence....
The workbench (Diagnostic Intelligence β†’ Advanced Diagnostics menu)
Guided capture profiles β€” the fix for "one idle sample starves most modules." The mechanic picks a profile and gets plain-language instructions for it:

Network & DTC Scan β€” pings HS-CAN modules, reads their DTCs, localizes U-code clusters to a shared bus (M3). No driving.
Idle Health β€” 12 s steady idle β†’ fuel trims, idle stability, air-metering cross-checks.
Drive Sample β€” 60 s varied load β†’ builds the RPMΓ—Load fuel-trim surface, fleet comparison, VE prognostics.
Crank & Start — captures the key-off→crank→run transition → compression ripple + battery-under-load.
Full Assessment β€” widest set, Bayesian composition.
Visual findings β€” each hypothesis is a FindingCard with a severity stripe, confidence bar, module chip, and an ADVISORY badge (since all calibration is spec-seeded until validated). Click one β†’ the evidence chain (the why, step by step), suspect components, and the single most discriminating next test.

The confirmation loop is closed and safety-gated β€” the highest-value piece. When a finding carries an executable ConfirmationScript (M7/T4), a "Run Confirmation Test" button appears. The ConfirmationRunner:

Auto-runs observe-only reads,
Requires arming + a per-step confirmation that shows the exact bytes before any active command (M7's payloads are platform-default placeholders the mechanic must validate),
Hard-blocks any active-control step targeting a restraints/airbag module β€” it never reaches SendRequest, with AllowRcmActiveControl staying false as a backstop.
Fold-in β€” Relative Compression now has an "Analyse (M2)" button that hands its captured crank samples straight to the engine and shows results in the shared read-only viewer, reusing its mature CKP capture instead of re-capturing.

The state of Right to Repair in Australia

Four years on from the Productivity Commission's landmark inquiry: how industry lobbying, narrow drafting and thin enforcement have left independent repairers with a scheme that's real β€” but a long way short of what was promised.

Today marks the day that Tester Engineering Suite stops being Diagnostic Software, and starts becoming Prognostic Software - a true Diagnostic Intelligence system, this software can fault find. A two-tier diagnostic intelligence layer that sits between TES's existing data-capture infrastructure (OBD-II PIDs, UDS DIDs, DTC reads, CAN topology) and the technician. Tier 1 inverts captured signals into fault hypotheses. Tier 2 runs physical models alongside the real vehicle for prognostic and model-based fault isolation.

Every module emits an evidence chain, a confidence score, and a recommended next discriminating test. No module ever emits a bare verdict.

The final result is up to the technician looking for the fault - the final intuitive human factor that no machine will ever be able to imitate.
