π¦πΊ Community Invitation β Letβs Honour One of Our Own π¦πΊ
On Saturday, 18 July, the community is invited to attend a very special ceremony at Mareeba Pioneer Cemetery to witness the unveiling and dedication of the newly recognised Official War Grave of Private James Cartwright, 47th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force.
For more than 75 years, Private Cartwright rested in an unmarked grave. Now, his service and sacrifice during the First World War will finally be recognised with the honour and dignity he earned.
One thing makes this ceremony especially poignant β Private Cartwright has no known family able to attend. Organisers are asking veterans, riders and members of the community to stand in their place and ensure this Australian soldier is remembered with the respect he deserves.
Several Military Motorcycle Clubs will be attending, and this is an open public event. Everyone is welcome to come along and pay their respects.
