🔧 Mini Cooper Engine Mount Replacement 🔧
This Mini Cooper came in with a failed engine mount, a common issue as these vehicles start to rack up the kilometres.
Over time, the rubber inside the mount deteriorates failing to support the engind and eventually splits, allowing excessive engine movement. This can lead to noticeable vibrations throughout the cabin, clunking noises, and if left too long, additional stress on surrounding components.
We fitted a brand new engine mount, restoring proper engine support and eliminating those unwanted vibrations. While it's not the biggest job, it's definitely a fiddly one with limited access but that's no problem for our team.
Another quality repair completed and this Mini is ready for many more kilometres on the road! 🚗✅

🚗 Small Part... BIG Consequences! 🔧
This Ford Escape came in with low power and limp mode. After diagnosing the issue, we found the high-pressure fuel pump was to low of pressure so we removed it to find the bucket (cam follower) had worn completely through.
This small component sits between the camshaft and the high-pressure fuel pump, transferring the camshaft's movement into the pumping action needed to create the high fuel pressures the engine relies on.
🛢️ One of the biggest causes? Neglected oil changes. As engine oil breaks down, it can't properly protect high-load components like this, allowing excessive wear over time.
When this part fails, it can cause: ⚠️ Low fuel pressure ⚠️ Engine warning lights ⚠️ Limp mode ⚠️ Major power loss
If ignored, it can even damage the camshaft, turning a relatively simple repair into a much more expensive one. This one did have some wear to the cam but the customer was aware and only had a budget so with fresh oil and a new bucket this cars now got its power back and ready to roll. 🔥
✅ Regular servicing and quality engine oil are cheap insurance against costly repairs.

💥 A bit of carnage hiding inside this transmission! 😬⚙️

This Ford ranger came into the workshop making some horrible noises and wasn't shifting through the gears properly. After dropping the transmission pan, it didn't take long to find the culprit...

The transmission pan, which holds the transmission fluid, was absolutely packed with metal shavings and debris. 😳

Inside every transmission pan are magnets designed to catch tiny amounts of normal wear metal over time. A very light coating is perfectly normal but nothing like what we found here! This amount of metal is a clear sign of major internal transmission damage.

Unfortunately, this gearbox is beyond a simple repair. It will need to be removed from the vehicle and either professionally reconditioned or replaced before it's back on the road.

If your vehicle is making unusual noises, slipping between gears, shifting harshly, or just doesn't feel right, don't ignore it. Catching transmission issues early can sometimes save you thousands of dollars in repairs.

💨 We got our first one one these newer model rangers with this issue and it's probably not going to be the last! 😅

This 2021 Ford Ranger 3.0L V6 came into the workshop with huge clouds of smoke pouring out from the wheel arch whenever it performed a DPF regeneration, whether driving or sometimes even parked! 😳 We wish we'd caught it on video because it was definitely a sight to see! 🎥

After a thorough inspection, we found the culprit... 🔎 The exhaust flex section near the turbo had split apart, allowing the hot exhaust gases to escape straight into the wheel arch instead of travelling through the exhaust system. 🌪️

Unfortunately, on these models the flex section isn't available separately, meaning the DPF and catalytic converter assembly had to be replaced as one complete unit to repair it correctly. 🔧

With the old unit removed, the new assembly fitted, all learned values reset, and a full service completed, this Ranger is now back on the road running just as it should! ✅🚗

🚙💨 Another DPF issue sorted at First Avenue Tyre & Mechanical! 🔧

This Mazda BT-50 came into the workshop with a DPF warning light, fault codes of excessive soot accumulation causing performance issues.

After diagnosing the problem, we found the DPF fuel vaporiser was completely blocked, preventing fuel from being injected into the DPF during regeneration cycles. Without this fuel supply, the DPF couldn't burn off soot effectively, eventually leading to severe blockage and engine fault codes. 🚨

✅ Fuel vaporiser cleaned and restored to full flow
✅ DPF regeneration completed successfully
✅ Fault codes cleared
✅ Exhaust temperatures back to normal
✅ Improved DPF flow and performance

The DPF wasn't completely soot-free after the burn, but we reduced soot loading from a massive 175% down to just 25% getting this BT-50 back on the road and operating as it should! 👌

If your diesel has a DPF light on, reduced power, excessive fuel consumption, or regeneration issues, don't leave it too long. Early diagnosis can save you from expensive repairs down the track.

⚠️ A breakdown waiting to happen! ⚠️

This vehicle came into the workshop with a completely failed alternator, and this one had a surprise... the pulley had completely come flying off! 😲💥

🔧 The alternator plays a vital role in your vehicle. It's responsible for keeping your battery charged while the engine is running helping it power all of your vehicle's electrical systems. The drive belt spins the alternator pulley, which allows the alternator to generate power. Without it, your battery will quickly go flat and you'll be left stranded. 🚗🔋❌

After seeing the fault, we fitted a brand-new alternator and got everything back up and running as it should. ✅

WAIT TILL YOU SEE THE OTHER SIDE 😲🔧⚠️ A bit of an older video, but a good reminder of the hazards that can be lurking on our roads!
This customer picked up a bolt through their tyre a fairly common puncture that we see from time to time. Unfortunately, this one came with a nasty surprise... the bolt had enough force to smash through the rim as well! 😲🛞
The result was a damaged tyre and wheel, but that's no problem for the team at First Avenue Tyre & Mechanical. We got everything sorted and the customer is now back on the road safely and with complete peace of mind. ✅🚗
