New front suspension crossmember getting fabricated for an upcoming project…

Designed in Solidworks (then slightly modified in fabrication stage) in conjunction with one of our latest independent front end designs, this is the first piece of the front end puzzle for one of our most unique projects to date. The crossmember was fabricated and shaped from 4130 chromoly and then double pass tig welded for the ideal strength and weight combination. Got a chance chance to try out our new water cooled Everlast Welder machine, giving it a good workout with no issues whatsoever…

Stay tuned; we’ll share more info about the whole builds scope in the coming months as things progress…

Rohans hell cat powered AP5 / VC Valiant Wayfarer Ute rolling on its own for the first time since we started the project. We finished doing the inner lower rear wheel tubs to make clearance for the pictured new rolling stock. We designed a set of staggered wheels and had them made before wrapping them in their new rubber.

We opted for 18x8.5” wheels up front with wider 19x11” out back. Staggered offsets front and rear to give the ass end that fatter dished combo…

First fire up! After three and a half years since we started the project, Grahams 56 F100 is making noise for the first time.

This week Jason got the controlled supercharged Godzilla wiring final checked over, got the startup tune made and got it fired off for the first time.

She’s alive, running on all eight, it’s running a bit rich and not 100% but it’s ready to head over to next week for its dyno tune and proper dial in…

Detour from the workshop for an excursion on Saturday. Driving up to save a couple of VW oval bugs stuck on a sheep station in the middle of nowhere near Broken Hill.

Used for fun around the farm two generations earlier, they’ve sat in their dry climate for 30+ years. These are 1956 Australian delivered examples with one still featuring the complete Australian dealer optioned side trims.

They’re banged up and bruised but still retaining their original tags with matching body/pans/engines. The dry environment kept the bodies and pans themselves in solid shape thankfully.

I think a built Baja Bug Prerunner may be on the cards in the future!
