“Pad Slapping” - Not an official mechanical term… but we all know it when we see it 👀
This vehicle came in showing a pretty clear example of what can happen when new brake pads are fitted onto worn rotors.
While it might seem like a cheaper option at the time, reusing worn rotors can lead to uneven contact between the pad and rotor surface. This results in uneven wear patterns like this and often reducing braking performance overall ❌
That’s why when we carry out brake repairs, we replace both pads and rotors together rather than just “slapping a set of pads in”.
✅ Better braking performance
✅ More even wear
✅ Less chance of noise/vibration
✅ Better long-term reliability
If you feel like your brakes have not been pulling you up as they should or starting to get noisy, come in and see us so we can get to the bottom of it for you and get you back on the road safely 👍
