WTAC 2025… where do I even start? “Disappointing” feels like an understatement.

We rolled in with optimism despite a lack of productive testing in the car, let alone much FWD experience. My crew was spot on, and I felt like we were ready to make big strides in setup and speed. But from the very first session, it felt like the time attack gods were against us. We rolled out on Thursday, and straight back in with a fuel cut that made the car undriveable.

Friday started looking better — most of the mechanical gremlins were sorted, and I finally had a chance to push on a fresh set of greens. But being my first time on new softs, I drove it a bit safe. A lift through T1, a couple of missed opportunities, and traffic got in the way. By lap 3, the front-right was cooked, but we had a 1:41.2 on the board — our fastest of the weekend.

From there it was a constant fight. Every time we fixed one problem, another cropped up: front end push, lazy rear, fading brakes. Saturday morning felt like our shot — fresh pads, rotors, and tyres, we had essentially done 6 months of testing and tweaking in 2 days - we were on for sure. Straight out of pit lane though, the steering felt off. The car squirmed down the straight but I (perhaps stupidly) stayed in it. flat through T1 at 204km/h. The front bit harder than I expected and I dropped a wheel onto the grass — sketchy to say the least. By the back half of the lap, the vibration from the front-right told the story: another tyre destroyed, this time seperating the tread lock from the Caracas of the tyre. Back in the garage, the boys found the tie rod just about fallen off. Somehow, it was still good for a 1:41.4, even with 10mm of toe on the front right and me holding on for dear life.

The final two sessions were plagued with red flags meaning we did a total of 2 flying laps all day — a frustrating way to close the weekend.

Despite everything, I can’t thank the team enough. Geoff and Cam didn’t stop hustling, finding answers for every issue and keeping me calm when it felt like nothing was going our way. Dan’s commitment and support is what makes all of this possible, and Kirsten, Massimo, Livia, and the rest of the crew were there every step of the way to keep spirits high.

We didn’t hit the goals we set, but we walk away knowing this — had we started the weekend with the car we ended with, it would’ve been a different story. There’s unfinished business here. If I’m lucky enough to keep steering the T-Motorsports Fastback, I can’t wait for another crack. The best is still to come. 👊

Although our 86 only participated in three race meetings this year, we still experienced many highs, alongside one particularly significant low.

Our first race of the year took place at a state round at Sydney Motorsport Park (SMSP) GP in New South Wales, competing in the Production Touring series in the 86. We entered the event for fun, using a set of old second-hand tires as an excuse to stretch the car’s legs. Despite a relatively small grid, we had several competitive battles across three races with cars from multiple classes.

In September, Dan Davis took the 86 for a run at Subinats, using the day as a test session to familiarize himself with the car, despite having previously owned an 86 himself. This brief lead-in to our second round of the year which was disrupted when Dan couldn’t attend at the last minute. I ended up driving solo in the endurance round, securing a class pole position in qualifying, a class win in the endurance race, and an overall round victory — an incredible achievement, marking our first race win, round win and pole position.

November saw the unveiling of a new livery at Bathurst. Unfortunately, we encountered a few issues throughout the weekend, managing only nine laps before the engine expired. Further details can be found on the blog for those interested.

I was also fortunate to work with several private coaching clients this year while continuing to assist Massimo with his 2022 BRZ. Together, we now hold lap records at three circuits with the car and look forward to further successes, especially now that Massimo has thrown 12psi of boost at the car.

In 2024, we teamed up with Dan from T-Motorsports to work on driving and development for his fleet of Hyundais, particularly his i30N Fastback time attack car. While I’ll refrain from using the hashtag , I’m genuinely excited about continuing this project with Dan in the new year.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of friends, family, partners, and sponsors. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to my partner, Kirsten, for her incredible patience and understanding as I balance a new career as an electrician with pursuing my passion for racing. A special thank you to my adopted family — Mass, Livia, Roman, and Liliana — who have supported me at every race and contributed countless hours behind the scenes. To my coaching clients, thank you for trusting me to help you achieve your goals. I also want to express my gratitude to Hoskins Contracting, Davis Performance, T-Motorsports, PVS Tuning, V-Sport Australia and Prestige Tyre & Auto for their continued support and belief in me.

Unfortunately our Bathurst weekend is over with 9 laps under the belt. After a cracking start to race 1 we suffered a terminal engine failure coming out of forest elbow.

The car is now on the trailer ready to head back to a Sydney with an inspection hole over cylinder 4 and abit of a charred rear bumper and bonnet. Full update to come tomorrow. Incredibly grateful for the opportunity and that myself and the car are still safe, whilst I’m heartbroken it could have been a whole lot worse!

Was good to get to turn some laps around the mountain this afternoon. Being thrown straight into the deep end with my first actual laps being in quali was always going to be a challenge but the first 6 laps were more daunting than I expected.

Looking forward to another 4 races over the weekend to get comfortable with the track and slowly chip away at our target time!

Not the ideal way to start a race weekend at a new circuit. A substantial misfire (which ended up being a tiny blade of grass in the MAF) meant we didn’t complete a single flying lap, we’ll go into Quali abit blind but we’ll have a crack and see where we land!

It’s not all bad, we just launched a new livery at Bathurst which feels pretty sureal. A huge thanks to all our partners who made this possible Hoskins Contracting - T-Motorsports - V-Sport - Parramatta Vehicle Services - PVS Tuning - Prestige Tyre and Auto Service

A class pole position, enduro race win and round win - a dream race weekend for team Racefix and Alek Hoskins!

Check out our latest blog to see how it all went down, our strategy for the enduro and how going to a smaller tyre actually made our car go faster…

To say we’re still buzzing after a dream weekend of racing would be an understatement. We went into the weekend with zero expectations,

Belter of a day in the office today coming out ontop of class D in the 1hr enduro! We had to get clever with some fuel saving and tire management whilst maintaining the gap to the BMW coming hot on our heels.

Full race report coming soon!
