Congrats to Todd Hobson on his win at Avalon last night - well done Todd 👍🏼
FIRST WIN OF THE YEAR!
In only my 9th start in the Family Owned Kool Freighters Russell STEEL V84 Victorian V8 Dirt Modifieds We got our maiden win in the class along with the first win of the season after being in contention to win nearly every race we’ve ran this year! Tried some new things as we've struggled to have a consistent and fast racecar across the whole night!
H1: Nearly COOKED the motor as started last in the heat as i got to P5 battling for P4 and the bottom hose of the radiator come off! Bizarre feeling as i thought i was getting spun out was sort of the feeling so i trucked on and monitored temperature last few laps (Pointless because no water to read temp) hung on for P5.
H2: Car felt so balanced and was driving forward so literally for our 2nd heat we tweaked the shocks a smidge to see how far we could go with it. Car again was a rocket and started P1 and got the win!
Final: I was probably the only car who moved forward on a rather narrow heat 1 track which points put me on P1. Plan was to just roll the bottom turn 1 and sorta just get the lead and get to the top as quick as possible. Spun the tyres bad the first start and ran side by side down the front straight and lost the lead off turn 2. Thankfully a yellow come out. We then had a 2nd start and i said to myself I'm not losing again 3 times here in a row (lol). Nailed the 2nd start and drove it in deep as anything and literally had to pull a slider to carry my momentum. It paid off! and we did a clean slider and got to the top and the lead and just hit my marks on the top in 1 and 2 and searched for moisture in 3/4 running a bit everywhere and got it done!!
Thanks to Dad for all he does and Leon for helping us out tremendously with some shocks that are well out of my budget! Also Brodie for spinning spanners and Brock for his help during the week this week!
Next one for us is Valvoline Raceway for Ultimate Pink Night next weekend! and with the speed we had with our old package up there i cant wait to see how we go with this package!
